Hey there guys

Well ive been waiting for the ATI 4870 for a long time now, and now that they are here, i am thinking about not getting one.

The reason: The NVidia 9800GTX

The 9800GTX performs under the ATI 4870, but it is also $100 cheaper...

So my question is:
should i get a ATI 4870 for $310
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102748

or should i get a Overclocked 9800 GTX for $210
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130348

What is the performance difference between the two?

Thanks for the help guys

Well to start with, the HD4870 is superior than the 9800GTX so you should really compare the 9800GTX to the HD4850, with the HD4850 winning by a bit.

In your case, it's all based on your budget now. If you have the money go ahead and get the HD4870. Now if you don't want to spend too much, get the HD4850 which is cheaper, free-shipping as of now and performs just a bit better than the 9800GTX. And don't forget it only takes up 1 slot in your comp.

from Newegg.com

HD4850 $195 - free shipping

9800GTX $199 - plus shipping

Yeah, but if he gets the 4870, he'll have the way more classy and elegant AMD chip. $8 for shipping is insult to injury if he has to get a GPU that he can use for a Heatsource in the winter time..................... (Innocent Ribbing, Not Flaming)
