i'm deciding whcih gpu i should get and i quite like the ati 4890 how does it compare to the Nvidia 260GTX/275

yeah its about the same price at the 275 so you think it doesn't really matter which one i choose? they both look like pretty good cards

Does your motherboard support sli or crossfire? If sli go nvidia if crossfire go ati. If neither, then go for the 4890(overall slightly better and monster overclocker) imo.

nah its neither haha cose my mobo only has one pci express slot but i was wondering cose in the future i would like to go dual gpu's so i would get a new mobo

so sli is for nvidia and crossfire is for ati?
you cant do crossfire nvidia?

and also my current mobo says that it can do hybrid sli which i think that it its like dual i suppose with my onboard gpu... would that be a good idea to set up? cose the onboard one is an 8200 and i have a 9500gt

Yeah the sli is nvidia and crossfire is ati. Hybrid sli is a waste of time imo, doesnt really help that much.Seeing as you have an amd cpu, i would recommend going for an ati card, as amd chipsets(better to go with an amd chipset mobo for an amd cpu, longer support of new cpu's) support crossfire.

haha yeah i didn't think there was mich point in the hybrid sli
thanks heaps for your help i'll go with the ati one then =D

Yeah, the hybrid sli works better on the superlowend cards like 9400gt, but even something like a 9500gt would see little gain from it, although it wouldnt hurt to enable it, might get a 10-15% boost until you get new gpu;)
