ok i got a radeon 9200se and i am getting crappy framerates - i know it has something to do with ati-lising or something like that but does anyone have any suggestions? (game is halo)

You cant play Halo maxed out with your comp, and as far as i know you cant change AA. Try lowering the settings and resolution. Also make sure that VSYNC isnt on.

Well obviously. The 9200SE is a horrible card.

Im guessing all your updates are downloaded and if you those i agree with omega and take down your settings

With a 9200SE, he may still even get lag with all his settings really low. I hate to be a pessimist, but that's a really old card.

Anti- Aliasing? That's what makes lines appear smooth during gameplay. It may have something to do wiht it, if you have AA turned on.

There are some cards out there that will make a big diff for a little amount of money... and im guessing thats a agp card

ok, what is AA? and i got this card from a friend for $30 and i gave him my mx4000 64mb - good deal? - and this card should be better than the mx4000 so..... (proves to show u that i am still learning)

i thought vsync was the framerates would go above the refresh rate or something, i thought this was good? - change in game?

VSync caps the FPS to a value equal to the refresh rate of the monitor, eliminating possible image tearing in games.

-crap you probably cant see that (how can i make them bigger, i used photobucket)
-if u can see them what can i improve?
*was this a good deal i gave my friend $30 and my mx4000 64mb?

if you have anti-aliasing turned on, i'd laugh at you. my old 9800pro would barely do any anti-aliasing in halo.
just turn all the video settings to off, and turn the resolution to the lowest. that should give you relatively smooth gameplay.
that IS a really old card though.
vsync is a feature btw. they wouldn't feature vsync if it made your computer lag. its used when two system's are unequal and you want to do multiplayer.
ever try playing halo online? if (most of) you played me online, i would get like 120fps MINIMUM in halo, and you might get something like 30 or so. that means that you would "teleport" once in awhile. yes, this is what causes it, because i play my brothers over a lan... and my comp burns my dads. (haha 7800gt + corsair XMS + dual core 2.54ghz vs. 9550se + kingston value single channel + 1.8ghz single core)
but, we set it at vsync and we run at the same speed :)
so, it just limits the game speed thats all.

haha "ATI-lising"

dont laugh at me XD anyway though it is running worse than the mx4000 64mb i had so.....

Err... what? The "teleporting" is caused by lag which is measured in milliseconds. It shows the latency of the data which is sent from the server to the client and from the client to the server. FPS is frames per second which only shows how many frames your computer is rendering per second.

lol dude.. AGAIN, you really need to stop preaching about stuff you clearly know little about..

VSync (vertical synchonization) synchronizes the buffer swaps with the monitor refresh rate. With the sync enabled, the frame rate will not exceed the monitors current refresh rate for the particular resolution. For example, if your monitor is using a refresh rate of 85Hz at 800x600, with VS enabled, you will never exceed 85fps (theoretically).

This feature is used to prevent the visual anomalies, image tearing and flashing polygons that can occur when the FPS is greater than the monitor refresh rate.

yes, limiting my gameplay and my father's computers gameplay to a certain speed so my computer isn't going literally2-3 times as fast.
"teleporting" will occur in multiplayer if one computer is going much faster than another, this is one of the reasons they created vsync... so people could control the game speed... along with the "image tearing" and such....

i turned vsync off for halo once with my newer 7800gt, and i got my ass whooped on an "easy" setting because they went too fast for me. same thing happens in older games like Red Alert, and Red Alert 2. thats why they have "game speed" options.

As I said before, "teleporting" happens due to the latency of a player on a server that has a high ping or high latency. This is caused by data being sent a bit too slowly from the server to the client and vice versa.

so what can i improve? cuase right now it is kinda running worse in halo then my mx4000 did. but in ati-tool i get more fps so.....
