ati hd 4850 vs ati hd 4870

Hi guys,

I'm currently debating which graphics card i should get.

According to some reviews, the difference between 4850 and 4870 is quite small and 4850 is worth it for its price and 4870 is abit better than 4850

I'm sure most of you would prefer the 4870 but would it be alright to get a 4850 instead?

In the shop where i'm getting this

512mb ati hd 4850 costs $185 aud
and
1gb ati hd 4870 costs $264 aud


To save money, would the 4850 be alright rather than getting 4870?

or you'd prefer 4870?
 
Both are very good performers,But if you can afford the 4870 1gb then thats your best bet.

Games these days could do with more than 512mb of Vram so having the 1gb on the 4870 would help out quite alot.

Go for the 4870 :)

Have you considred a nvidia 260?
 
yes i have considered gtx 260 a few months ago when i was just thinking of upgrading.

I found out that its like an upgrade of an old vga

I think your thinking of the GTS250 which is a relabled 9800gtx+, the GTX260 is the new GT200 architecture that includes the gtx260(only go with a 216 core model of gtx260), gtx280, GTX275, GTX285, and GTX295.
 
oh yeh thats true, thats mybad =]

i'll go for 4870 instead of 4850 if i have enough budge for it.
