i am going to be using autocad and architecture program where i will be putting things in 3-d and i am not sure which video card to use can someone help me

because normal video cards are desgined for games and media. Quadro cards are designed for things like AutoCAD and 3d modelling.

You know, I read up on some workstation cards and many apparently are simply "rebadged" cards from previous generations. However, the drivers and such are more refined with better OpenGL support and what not.

Depending on how serious this computer is, you'd probably be just fine with a fairly current low-middle range dedicated GPU.

And that doesn't happen with regular cards? 8800GT > 9800GT. 9800GTX > GTS 250.
