Assuming the following things are applied to this versus situation:
- Test PC for both cards: 3.8GHz P4 w/ 800MHz FSB and 2GB 667MHz DDR2 SDRAM (2 DIMMs)
- price is irrelevant and these are the only choices
- no SLI configuration (ie no dual cards; we're talkin 1 on 1 here)
- no overclocking
- no other tweaks/fixes/etc

So basically, out-of-the-box performance for each card.

Which performs better? I haven't been able to find any comparisons of these two cards head-to-head on the internet.

Anyone have any direct experience/testing with both with the above GPUs??

Thanks in advance people!! :D

ya, the 7800GTX is the newest and is the best car out there (ATI and nVidia), who knows what ATI's gonna come up with next though, but for now the 7800 is the best.

even the 6800 ultra compares to the x850xt pe. on average the 7800 gtx beats the x850xt pe but there are some games where its the reverse.

In that case ... which boxes are we talking about? (i.e., what manufacturer?(

R520 should smoke nvidia
Except it never will. R520 is a product. nVidia is a company.

Yes but i could also compare a GF2MX to a 6800Ultra .....
