ATI Radeon X850 XT Platinum For 240$?!?!

For the record... newegg doesn't chip to canada, and the prices before were all CA $.

The idea is to look around the different Canadien vendors to see what prices are seen on some newer models going through price reductions. Bargain hunting is something to take into consideration there. I'm sure that isn't the only Canadien vendor.

The thing I am seeing right off about the price difference seen between futureshop and canadacomputer has more to do with brand. Futureshop is selling an ATI model while canadacomputers is carrying a Powercolor. Those are two completely different card manufacturers there with ATI being ATI. The one thing common between the two is the ATI chip.

Different manufacturers, but I bet it's all the saem reference card, or at least produced in the same facility. The difference in manufacterers is more with warrenties and extras than the card itself.

WTF? I said you posted a link to an american vendor, and that the prices were USD. An X1900XT isn't $60 more in CAD, its about $250 more.

Ya, but currencies are also to be taken into consideration... you cant say that a card is $60 USD more than a card thats $240 CAD...

Do you know the current rate of exchange counting in inflation rates?

I knew it was a larger figure already. But knowing the current rate at any given time is another matter. That's a good reference for estimating a price range for good buys on hardwares however. When you see pne vendor(US) listing an item for $99.99 and a Canadien seeing $112(CA) but see another Canadien vendor first with $119(CA) or $!10(CA) you have something to work with in comparing who has a better price.

ook...anyway I hate how technology works. When the Playstaion 2 first came out it was like over 300$...now, I can get the new thinner model WITH a vertical stand for like 120$...crazy hey.

If you want the latest "bells and whistles" as it often stated you will have to pay out the big money for the high ticket item when it first comes out. If you wait and see how things go with a new hardware the price will eventually drop down to a reasonable point.

That also works with softwares too. When at a pc show I first saw an XP recovery disk with SP1 and grabbed that for roughly $95 and then later downloaded and saved SP2. Now you can get a full installation disk with SP2 for about $80. That's under 1/2 the $200 retail on the release of that.

Alright, but your saying that this card is only $60 USD more than the other card, which was $240 CAD. I'm not talking about estimates. I'm saying that you were wrong about comparing the two cards because they're in two different currencies. And no, you can't just say that its only $67 more CAD, because its NOT. Most X1900XT in canada cost at least $500 CAD. What does estimating good prices have to do with that?

The point there was simply to explain the benefits of browsing different vendors to see where you get the best price if not best warranty. If all X1900XT cost over $500 CAD then you browse and see one at $519CAD and the next at $524CAD, and then suddenly you come across one at... $509 CAD. Where are you going to order from? Everybody else already knows the answer to that one.

Ok... of course you go for a cheaper one... but you posted a link to newegg, which doesn't ship to canada. And An X1900XT is not $60 over his budget, which is what you said before.

I dont really care for argueing with you anymore. You posted a link to a vendor from a different country in a different currency where electronics are different prices, and I pointed that out. You went on to say something about comparing prices... which has nothing to do with what I was pointing out before.

I often post link to a familiar vendor for the look at a specific model. Since you haven't provided a list of Canadien vendors I have to show one in the U.S. is that makes any sense to you?
