Please someone reply to this.

Alot of times I rarely have any questions when it comes to hardware, software, technical support... But this has stumbed me.

HyperMemory used RAM, and I have 1gb. So it shows up as 896mb ram.
There is currently 128mb shared to the video so I have 128mb dedicated video too.

I'm almost for certain that shared memory is alot slower than dedicated and most games will play fine on 128mb if is completely dedicated, but however. Half of my 256 is shared.

I was wondering if any one knows how to disable the shared feture on my graphics card. It would do my gaming and my system ram alot of help.

And if your someone who knows more about this could you also tell me if my games would run better with 128mb dedicated vs. 256mb shared (half and half).

Please someone, I'm really needing this help right now, I'm about to run Windows Vista Home Premium and of course I'm going to use Aero so I'm sure this will help me out a bunch.

PS: Thanks alot and could you also tell me how to reverse the process unless I need more graphics for Vista or anything else. THANK YOU!

If you are sure that it has 128 dedicated, then in the BIOS there should be an option to set how much memory is used in addition to the 128MB.

However if it's similar to the x1300 and x1400 that use HyperMemory, you can't change it, but it only uses the system memory if it runs out of the 128MB dedicated.

How do I get to bios? Is bios like the setup function you can boot into when you turn your computer on, if so then how do I use it because all I see is like options of what to boot first and stuff.

But when that pops up (by the way its f2)... I only have a few options. I heard somewhere that dell and other computer making companies hid all of the stuff that alowed you to edit your system.

Dude, 128MB is more than enough for that card. Assing more would just decrease your overall system performace. I also beleive those cards share memory dynamically. If it needs more RAM(which 64M would probably even be plenty :P) It'll take it.

You, what are you talking about lol thats my whole point. To make it 128mb dedicated instead of 256mb shared. I have 128mb shared, and 128mb dedicated. I want to removed the shared.
