for crossfire to work?

Cause you make it sound like you need two Crossfire edition cards.

yep u need a crossfire version and then a regular one i believe. sli is simpler just two identical cards (i believe driver updates let two different brands run in SLI)

Yes, but SLI has also been out longer. Im sure crossfire will eventually become just as seamless as SLI, once they work out the bugs.

SLI requires you to use the same identical card, CrossFire just needs a CrossFire card and a crossfire ready card, such as the x1900XT and the x1600.

yes but if u put x1900XT and x1600 togther, the higher end card will run like the lower one, so 1900xt will run as if it is x1600, and as a result u will get a lower performance than one x1900xt.

read it and weep MUHAHAHA i was right, two different cards, same chipset... two different manufacturers.
as long as they have the same GPU, they'll work together... they can even have two different memory sizes
