I am making a new gaming computer, and there are 2 graphics cards that i am thinking about getting. The ATI Radeon 3870 or the GeForce 8800 GT. They both are very nice cards but i just wanna know what would be the best for the price of the cards since the ATI is a bit cheaper then the Nvidia, and is there that big of a difference in the quality that i should pay more for the Nvidia?

i prefer the 8800GT for the moment, if you can get it at a similar price to the 3870. if not, the 3870 is a very powerful card for 20$ more then i payed for my X800GTO three years ago!

How much money are you willing to spend? Do you want quality and performance for less? If so, the HD3850 and HD3870 are your best bets. If you have a bigger budget, the 8800GT is always open ;)

Def the 8800gt. nVidia has some great stuff. Not too much of a gamer here, but I run a 7600gt and love it!

And the HD3870 can be compared to that :rolleyes. There was a huge gap between the 8600GTS and the 8800GTS. The HD3850 and HD3870 fills that up. Both ATI cards have great performance for a cheap price.

Not a ATI fan ;).

True, the GT is about $50 more and the performance difference is very slight.

Well, both cards are in a great price/performance ratio. The 8800GT performs about 20% better but also costs 20% more (8800GT ~$270 and 3870 ~$220) so they are in proportion. THat means, get whichever one you want, if you have the money, get the 8800GT but if you have a budget the 3870 is not a bad choice. :)
