Ati2DVag display driver problem

With ATI you can run right out to the support site for the latest update. But that is a common problem where sometimes your sound drivers are what has to be updated. One idea get them both updated to see if that helps. You will have to use the ATI ATICimUn.exe uninstaller to remove the current video drivers after download of the latest update and just before running it.

check the game.. see if there are any conflicts with ATI cards.. some do have these issues..

check the game.. see what type of video card speed it needs minimum.. I assume your ATI surpasses it.. but just to make sure..

update the driver.. if possible. it's always an option and solution even.

also, were you running anything graphic intensive along with your game.. like image editing programs.. watching videos.. etc..

Often you can go right to the game manufacturer's support site for patches as well as troubleshooting tips like turning down the video acceleration. Many of the newer practically demand that you install the latest video and sound drivers if they are the "connect to internet" type. With some games depending on your system specifications you would have to use the msconfig utility to reduce the number of things that load along with Windows in order to run the game.

What can be a cause for concern often on gaming machines is temps and memory issues. Those two things can cause system locks while gaming as well as damaged or incorrect device drivers. If you go for the update and remove the current drivers for the updated and still see locks you may want to run a memory tester like memtest as well as looking over your cpu and system temps. On occasion a video card can overheat causing a lock.
