Tried booting up my system got blue death message ati2vag message. After numerous startup fails I was able to get my system up and running. Recieved a microsoft message abut recovering from a serious error. Knew I was running an antivirus that had compatibility issues (norton 7.o with xp). I deleted old norton, bought a new one and low and behold 14 viruses detected. Took care of that issue... Everything seems fine but can't restart without check disk running, can't do a system restore and it takes 2-4 attempts before i can get the computer to boot up, once up everything seems to be fine. I am trying to update my radeon 9250 drivers. I have tried deleting drivers in reg and safe mode but once i boot up i get the bling that windows detected new hadware and i don't get the wizard to install new drivers. It seems like the old ones are still lingering or the drivers automatically load. I have also tried to disable drivers but the same thing happens. I am trying the deletes via device manager
I have to ask. How are you shutting down your computer? I've heard people say that every time they start up the computer that check disk runs but all the while they where shutting down the computer wrong.
Also how are you deleting these drivers? Drivers now a days can be uninstalled via Add/Remove programs from the control panel and is the recommended method. Also after you uninstal your drivers run driver cleaner http://www.drivercleaner.net/ to get rid of any remains. Then boot into safe mode and double click the .exe of your new driver download to install. You should not worry about the wizards to install your hardware, as a matter of fact you should cancel those wizards and install by double clicking the updated download drivers.
Edit:
Oh yea. When posting you should put your computer information as well as operating system etc.
