Attempting To Reconnect

I play league of legends on an extremely old HP pavilion dv6449. Every minute or so, it says attempting to reconnect. I lag out and usually die as a result. I think my internet is fine (12 down 1.5 up) 30ish ping. Is it a problem with the computer itself? Or should I get a new router.

How are you connected to the internet? Are you wireless or wired? If wireless, what is your signal strength on your computer? Do you know if it's 802.11a/b/g/n/ac? How far is the wireless router from your computer?

The DV 6 series had lots of issues and I believe one of them was the wireless overheating or something similar. You might want to try using a usb wireless adapter and see if the same thing happens. Also try updating the wireless driver.

Also, I would see what kind of neighboring wireless traffic you have with something like InSSIDer.

For 10 feet I'd really just run a cable. But that's just me as I have cabling including OM3 fiber runs all over the house ;)

I believe i took it in for servicing on this matter, but im fairly sure i need to update all my drivers, where can i do that?

What is inSSIDer? Ive heard the name somewhere but im not sure what it does. Is there a maximum speed internet that my motherboard can support? Because im building a new one fairly soon and want to make sure this doesnt happen again?

InSSIDer is an application you run that shows you wireless traffic for other access points and clients. It gives you a good idea of how much wireless traffic is in a certain band, what channels are more available than others and similar.

Network sync speed is based on the network card or NIC itself.

If you have a lot of wireless neighbors and similar, it's entirely possible that other wireless traffic is interfering with your connection. Wireless devices use what is called CSMA/CA and will not attempt to transmit if the channel or frequency is in use (will back off a random amount of time and try again).

If I find out that neighboring traffic is a problem, is there anything I can do about it? My drivers are the latest ones. Is there anyway that I can replace the network card?

You should use WIFI channels 1, 6, or 11. Maybe see if there is an update to the router's firmware. If there is crap running in the background that wants to connect to the Internet then that could be a problem. Running any firewall? Is the network card (NIC) internal? If so your SOL unless you buy a USB WIFI card and those can build up heat.

How can I change the WiFi channels, and I've disabled all other electronic devices in the house
