I bought all the parts for my custom gaming computer that you helped me build only later to find out that the mushkin blackline ram that you told me to get instead of the corsair ram isn't on the list of compatible ram on the evga motherboard website. Ummm whats up with that?

ya i might have serious issues when i try to overclock though... I mean honestly he has the EVGA logo as his dam profile picture he shouldnt go around suggesting shit that doesnt work. or is skeptical at best. Im sorry about blowing up like this on the forums but honestly when i spend 2500 bucks i want to know that everythings going to work just fine. And if i return the memory i get charged 15 percent restock plus i have to buy an even more expensive ram which is what i originally had and is COMPATIBLE. I guess its my fault for trusting a 17 year old kid... thanks a lot bomberboy

All i7 930 processors have a memory controller integral to the processor. Memory compatibility lists are useless, as EVGA is not going to test every single brand of memory that is on the market for "compatibility". DDR3 is DDR3(well, there are varying quality levels, such as OCZ being utterly terrible, while mushkin is heavily regarded as some of the best out there), it doesnt need to be on the compatibility list. All 3x2Gb memory kits are going to be sub 1.65v kits designed for use with Nehalem processors with a triple channel memory controller. This is not to mention the fact that EVGA's memory compatibility list is severely outdated. The motherboard is not what determines memory compatibility. Pretty much nobody looks on memory compatibility lists these days, as companies have to pretty much pay to get their name put onto those lists.
A great example of this is EVGA's 11th year anniversary contest, one of the prizes(one of my friends won this particular prize actually) for instance was corsair dominator GTX4(one of the most expensive 2GB non ECC dimms on the market) memory that is not on EVGA's "Memory compatibility list".
Also, note EVGA's lack of any Patriot branded memory products for P55/H55/H57, yet they gave away a few prizes of Patriot 4Gb memory products.
There are literally hundreds of different kits of memory on the market,with new kits being released almost weekly, there is no possible way for any manufacturer to "test" everyone on the market.
In short: All 3x2Gb memory kits will work on any X58 motherboard. There are some kits i wouldnt suggest due to really crappy IC's(patriot, OCZ, and kingston valueram for instance), but any kit will work. That mushkin kit uses better IC's than the dominators you were looking at, Corsair likes to charge more money just because it says dominator on it. A prime example is the fact that the dominiator GTX2's are over twice the price of what a set of Super Talent's stuff using the same exact IC's cost.

Like bomber said, Memory compatibility lists are useless. It leads to exactly what your thinking, that if its not on the list its not compatible. Which is not the case. Its just ones they have tested.
The idea should be shelved. It should be a incompatible list and only have ones listed that didnt work.

I think it would not hurt you to say sorry(I guess its my fault for trusting a 17 year old kid... thanks a lot bomberboy ) as it has been explained to you now.Why did you not check the bits out first before purchasing them like normal people who were going to spend that amount of money.
In all fairness, he probably felt pretty confident about bomberboy's suggestions and whatnot, but at the same time, like what most people said, you should never really rely on those "compatible types" lists you see on motherboards. It's the same thing you'll see on Newegg with the Corsair Dominator series having a "Best X58/i7 Performance" tags and whatnot - just because it has that doesn't mean that other RAM models are going to perform poorly.
The only things to really worry about RAM compatibility is what the motherboard can support, in terms of speed, type (DDR2/DDR3), etc. which are no brainers.

Check all connections:EPS 12v(CPU), 24pin ATX, GPU Power Connections, especially.
Are you getting a POST code error on your POST LED display? If so, what error is it stopping on.
Also, ensure that your GPU is in the uppermost PCIE slot, and that your memory is in the correct slots(on the FTW3 you would use the grey slots when running three DIMMs).
Also, don't worry about it. As stranglehold said, those compatibility lists lead to faulty thinking, its more EVGA(and any other motherboard manufacturer)'s fault for posting such an outdated/incomplete "compatibility" list than anything else.

On top of what has been said. Are you sure you got the standoffs in the correct places.
Alright instead of pointing fingers here, why don't you tell us what the error you get when trying to boot up the pc? Its very well possible you put the wrong connectors in the wrong places, I mean ive built over 50 pc's and the handbooks are terrible so if your not getting to a post screen it has absolutely nothing to do with the ram what so ever. However it states an error related to memory then we can go from there.
