Audio cable between video card and motherboard

I have an hp m8417c desktop and installed an EVGA Geforce 9800 gt video card in it. It came with a DVI to HDMI adapter, and a small cable to route the audio into the card to send it out through HDMI. i see the slot to connect to on the card, but don't see one on the motherboard. it is a tiny rectangle that has 2 pins and I was wondering if only some audio cards have this connection, or if i am overlooking it. any help would be appreciated.

I would check the manual for that, i dont use hdmi on my 9800gtx so i wouldnt know, but i have the cable and i think it connects to the onboard audio, not sure if it works with add on sound cards though.

your board doesnt have one.

Checking the asus website for the manual and looking at the mobo overview picture it doesnt have one. There are 4 varients of the mbo, but none of the 4 have the socket you are looking for so far as i can see.

There will be certain mobos that will have the connectors but some which dont. yours is probably the latter
