Audio Help

My current setup has been good to me for a while, but I am looking for more. I want to build a good 2.1 setup geared for listening to music. Mainly electronic, but I have a bunch of different types of music. So far I think I want to use the optical out of my motherboard to a desktop DAC with headphone amp that will go out to another amp (T amp?) that supports both of the bookshelf speakers and a subwoofer. I would rather have better sound rather than just loud. Here is what I have so far.

I really have no idea what I am doing with audio, so any help or general direction is much appreciated.

Why not connect a home theater system? I have mine connected to the onboard optical out, the receiver uses it's decoder for DTS/DD, and then outputs it to the speakers.

If you want to build a system completely from scratch, have at it lol.

Like I said, I have no idea what I am doing. All I really want to accomplish is a good sounding setup for music. I went for a smaller DAC/AMP so that it would fit under my monitors. I don't want to reach across my desk to change the volume.
