Audio Problem (Laptop)

Hey guys ... and girls

I've got a problem that i'd like to get some help with.
I just bought a new laptop about a year ago and just recently i set up my laptop to use external speakers. Now when i plug in my speakers into my audio jack you can hear the audio .. same when i plug in my headphones..
but when i take out my headphones/speakers you can't hear any sound coming from my laptop speakers. Now i've gone through Control Panel and double/triple checked all of the settings and they still won't work.. if anybody can give me an idea about what is wrong or what step i should take it would be very helpful. (My laptop is made by Compac .. if that makes a difference....) I might not be on too much so forgive me if i don't reply to any questions...

Thanks

Have the internal speakers ever worked? It sounds almost like you have a problem with the switch that disables your internal speakers. Typcially, when you plug headphones into your laptop(or the front connections on a desktop) it will disable the main speakers. This is just a basic switch in the headphone jack, nothing you can really enable/disable in the control pannel...

I guess see if anyone else has any suggestions, but that would be my thought...

Yes.... some of my friends have said something concerning how the audio jack might be "stuck" as if the computer thinks that the headphones/speakers are still plugged in ....

Mystery Solved ???

Well just incase you were wondering...
My laptop speakers work now ....i'm not sure exactly when they started but all i know is that they work now....

P.S. You may ask... How the hell would you not know exactly when your speakers started working ? Well the reason is because i had kept my headphones in because i figured hey it'll be a while until i send it in... but then i took my headphones out while i was booting up my laptop and it worked....

Needless to say i am very happy
