I think *RAID 1* is the one you want... if you have Windows 7, its easy enough to set up... Raid 0 is JBOD - Just a bunch of disks - isn't it? Just an overflow mechanism... RAID1 I think is pretty easy to set up... what OS do you have?

yes i have window 7
and thanks for quick answers

...right... so you want to make a Mirrored RAID1 drive? Since it will take me ages to explain how to do it, and the fact I haven't ever done it so it would be guesswork, I think it would be safer to direct you Here. (Unless the mods can direct you to a more simple guide on this website.) Just read it through, ignore the motherboard bit since that will confuse you, just read from 'OK, let’s get started. Right click ‘Computer’ and select Manage. You should see something like this:'

- I take it you have two drives ready..?

Hope this helps... I would try it myself but since I am now running Windows 8, which has a RAIDing Section in Control Panel, it wouldn't be of much help. The two drives MUST be the same size by the way.

Might be wrong but i thought with windows 7 Pro any way you could sync the drives.
I would wait for another comment on this. Don't have a clue what briefcase is. never got into it. Anyway just wait for another comment. Im using windows 7 Pro.

RAID 1 is what you want to use. Here is the only problem, You will need to set up the RAID drives on a clean install of Windows if you want to include your OS in the RAID Array. If you are doing it for storage drives that are not tied to the OS you can use the guide that EclipticShell posted. If you want to mirror your boot drive you will need to use BIOS utilities to configure the drives in RAID before any OS is loaded.

As I understand the question you want to copy your current documents to a new drive /folder for safety- Is that correct?

Using XP I opened the drive where I wanted my backup of documents made. Right click and select Briefcase. and select the drive, files, folders etc that I want in there.

When you have updated, changed /added/removed any files in the main working area, simply got o the Briefcase and select Update. This will only update the files that have changed. This can be done as often as yoiu wish.

An alternative is to go to Control Panel , and set up the schedule to backup from hdd1 to hdd2 at set times.
