Auto Re Start Problem

I am running XP prpfessional. I have recently have had to do a complete re install after replacing my mother board.

I have updated with all the required updates. My machine works fine. When I shut down it stays shut down.

My problems start if the pc freezes or sometimes when i install a new programme.

When shut the pc Down it retarts straight away. I have tried everything. All I can do is update with xp again. This cures the problem, but I then have to download all 51 updates again. In the last two weeks I have had to do this about 3 times.

try scanning for viruses/spyware and those stuffs.Also try using pc bug doctor on it.Try tools relating to virus removal it mwaybe that.You may never know.

Try this :
On the icon My computer, click with right mouse button / choose properties / choose Advanced / choose "settings" under startup and recovery / under system failure unmark "automatically restart".

Thanks for the info. I have tried this and pc is clear. I have updated with XP disc and down loaded all up dates. Things ok for now, until the pc freezes again
