automatic power up at a specific time

confusion

New Member
Hi there,

I currently have a Powermac that I have configured to power up at a specific time each day to perform some tasks and shut down automatically afterwards.

Now I'm looking for alternatives on the wintel and *nix side that allow the same thing. I've heard that, depending on the BIOS, it should be possible on a x86 PC, but haven't found any information on the websites of the major computer companies.

Is this a common feature of common BIOS'es? Can anyone point me to a website where I can find more information?

Thanks

This feature has nothing to do with the operating system but rtather the BIOS
