Automatic Updates

I hate them. I hate Automatic Updates. I'm running Windows Vista SP1. When I do a new format, I let Automatic Updates download whatever it needs to up until Service Pack 1 and then I cut them off. I feel like Microsoft shouldn't have free reign to my computer to install whatever it wants.

Is my thinking flawed? Should I allow them? I just can feel the difference in speed on my system when I have tons and tons of hotfixes being installed everyday.

I have my computers setup to download the updates, but let me choose which ones to install.

I don't think there's anything wrong with automatic updates, though.. not unless you happen to be running a non-genuine copy of Windows.

I don't like them they just really waste alot or downloading bandwidth and HDD space if there one i need ill download it other wise no thank you

I still can't handle it. There is very little that I actually want to download. Service Pack 1 and Driver Updates are about it. Is there any need to download Security Hotfixes and such? I don't have super-sensitive CIA information that I need to keep secret.
