automating system checks

i have a small network if computers and they constantly get affected by virii. i have installed some anti-virus / spyware scanners; but i need to run them manually which is becoming quite a chore. any help would be really appreciated.

Alot of antivirus programs have ways to time your checks. You pick a time like 8:00am everyday. As long as the computer is on it will start by itself. But it depends on what AV your are running.
 
that is true; but sometimes - the users on the system stop the task - and the system goes un-scanned for weeks (i once had a system that had a worm because it wasn't scanned for three weeks)

that's why i have to manually do it :(

is it possible to disable users from stopping the a/v scan?
