Avast and Mac

My wife's mac does not have any anti-virus on it and was wondering if Avast will work. I am a big fan of Avast on my PC, just not sure if it is as good on the Mac.

Just a follow up - I ran the avast on her computer. She has the MacBook Air, less than a year old, with a 256 GB hd. She also has about 240 taken up with Microsoft Office files. It took avast about 4.5 hours to perform the complete scan and found about 13 suspicious files. Not knowing what these files were, I just put them in Avast's vault, rather than delete. Computer is now running a little better (faster).

If you're having issues with it, MalwareBytes also makes a version for OSX.

And BitDefender is also good at removing malware from OSX

Just installed and ran Malwarebytes. It is so different than running it on a PC. It took about 0.5 seconds to scan and came up with the message that there were no issues. Very different than running it on a PC. I also notice that the menu choices for both Malwarebytes and Avast for the Mac are different than a PC.
