Avast is sinking to AVG's level with all the crap they bundle with it, the pop-ups, etc.

But yeah I don't believe AVG is worth that much.

As long as you do a custom install, most popups are gone. The only popup I get now is that it tells me how many viruses in the whole world it has stopped in the last month or so.

I use Panda AV right now because of the popups on avast. I might switch back though... not sure.

This is the only popup I get from Avast which to me is no big deal.

Might be worth it from a financial point of view if avast are planning to sell to a player in the security industry with even deeper pockets in the long term.

I think both companies will keep their own name and software but AVG will just be owned my Avast. Sort of like Hitachi is now owned by Western Digital.
