AVG 9.0 vs 2012 Free

Yop,
i recently got Win7 Ultimate (x64) and i should get an AV program, i have used AVG before, so i though i stay with it.. but im just wondering if AVG 9.0 is better than 2012 Free version... ?

I never buy AV. Many of those AV software companies are sewed every year for putting Maliware on your Computer so their company looks good. Plus the fact that free stuff works just as good. Only time it fails is when it is turned off.

If I were you, I would download the free version of Avast, Avira, or Microsoft Security Essentials

Those are the ones Iv'e always used and Iv'e been fine.

9.0 is the older version (from 2010) and 2012 is the latest, so if you want AVG, get the 2012 version. If your license is still valid you can still use it with 2012.

However I don't care for AVG. I'd use Avast or Microsoft Security Essentials.

+1 on Microsoft Security Essentials. Works just as good as AVG but doesn't come with all the "hidden" crapware found on most AV's such as AVG, Avast, etc.
