AVI and WMV wont play

Heys guys, for once I stumped myself. I made a video and it was .avi format, when I went to play it in Windows Media Player and Real Player both times it told me I needed a license to play and the license was a pRon advertisement!!! I tried the same video in WMV format and once again the same thing happened.
The only formats it will play are MPG and MPEG formats.
Any way I can bloodly get it to play them in those two formats (avi and wmv) as it's really annoying me. I have done countless anti-virus and spyware checks trust me.
I'am using Windows Media Player 10 and the latest version of Real Player.

Any Ideas as I have stumped myself
btw I have already made videos before in the avi and wmv file format and they played in Windows Media Player before

Sounds like an over protective flaw with the codec, possibly some virus. Have you tried an other codecs? Or maybe uninstalling WMP?
