AVI too large?

I've got a small problem: I have some movies, AVI, 800+ Mb, so too big for CD, converted this is about 5 G, so too big for normal DVD.:mad:
Question is: can I only burn this to DL or is there a way to split this file and burn on 2 normal DVD's. I've tried Nero to make a project, searching for chapters en then deleted some, so it would be less then 4.7 G. Well that doesn't work for me:( . So can anybody help me out?:confused:
 
There's a little something called compression. Bump it up some and I'm sure whatever video you're trying to burn would fit on either disk.
 
Nero should compress it for you...if the file wont fit on a 4.7gb dvd it will ask you if you want to compress it to dvd5 instead of using dvd9...select yes!
