AVIRA antivirus!

ok, so i just installed avira. the free version. and i did a scan. there were 8 detections found.
but avira seems very confusing and complicated and hard to use. so when i scan it, do they remove the viruses by itself? or am i suposed to do something? and what are "events"? what do i do with it?
i am very confused!

There are settings for which action you want Avira to take when a suspect file is found:
Repair
Rename
Quarantine
Delete
Ignore

You can also choose to let Avira deal with the file by itself, or "interactively", meaning Avira will stop its scan and wait for you to decide what do to with it.

I have mine set to "Quarantine" such files automatically. This takes the suspected file and isolates it safely from the rest of the computer so it becomes harmless. After my scan is finished, I look to see what the quarantined file is in the Report, and decide whether I want to retrieve the file or delete it.

You can find the settings for this by opening up Avira and going to

Extras -> Choose "Expert Mode" -> Configuration -> System Scanner -> Scan -> Action on Detection
