i am almost positive it is my hdd... i have had a noise since i purchased the computer.. but never had a problem. to describe it, its like a clickity clackity type noise.. fast pace.. comes along with a spinning high rpm noise similar to that of a hdd.

is it easy to replace the hdd in a laptop? its only 2 years old... and a 160gb hdd. i would like at least double that, and less noise! and while i have it apart, i would like to get a gpu for it... i dont think it even came with one.. dell inspiron 1525. what type of gpu would be best for it?

i am also building a gaming desktop comp... and windows 7 will be purchased with it. can i use the same windows 7 disk to start fresh on my lap top?

4 - 6 screws, less than 5 minutes. don't think you can change gpu, they are usually soldered on the main board. I could be wrong through.

1. Replacing the hard drive is very easy. If the bottom of your laptop is 1 large panel, rather than (usually) 2 smaller ones, then take out all the screws, and the bottom panel will come straight off. If it has 2 smaller panels, look for the one with the hard drive symbol either on or near it; it looks sort of like a can.

Once the panel is off, the hard drive is usually in a little caddy, held in by 1 or 2 screws. Take the screws out, and the caddy will just slide out. It will then have another few screws holding the drive into the caddy. Take those out, and the hard drive will just slide out.

Now do that again in reverse, but putting the new hard drive in the caddy.

2. You can't upgrade the graphics in a laptop. Unlike a desktop where there you can add a dedicated graphics card, a laptop has integrated graphics, meaning the GPU is on the motherboard, just like a desktop motherboard with integrated graphics. There are a few laptops which have it seperate, however you are looking at a neat sum to get a card, and the list of cards that are compatible with each laptop is extremely short. The laptops which can have their graphics changed though are in an extreme minority, and I'm about 99% sure that yours has the chip on the motherboard, so can't be upgraded

3. If you get a multi-liscence copy, you will be able to use the same copy of 7 that you are using on your desktop. However, if you are only getting a single user copy, then no, you would have to get 2 seperate copies
