B2 error with new GPU

Got a GTX 980 today. Plugged it into my Gigabyte Z77X UD5H and receive a B2 error after the bootup beep and it hangs on the Gigabyte splash screen. It continues to reboot by itself and eventually gets stuck on the A9 code which is the BIOS initialisation. Is this a BIOS issue?

I've tried reseating the GPU and resetting the CMOS. I have no idea if it's DOA or not because it lights up, probably has nothing to do with it working though.

What is the make and model of your power supply?

Corsair Enthusiast Series TX750.

Also, I've found a BIOS update for the 980 itself, would this fix anything or is it some other solution I should be looking for?

All of this aside, I have no idea how I'd install a BIOS update if I can't even boot the computer.

Looks like the F13 bios improves gpu compatibility. Did you have a different video card before that worked? That board supports onboard video providing the cpu is capable. You would have to flash bios that way.

I had a GTX 680 before installing this and it still works. Is there any particular program you recommend to flash the bios?

The computer has to boot before you can upgrade the bios. However, you use the bios utility called Qflash to update the bios.

Thanks so much for all of your help. I updated the BIOS and connected the GPU again and it's working perfectly.

Thanks again!
