Back-light problem: Sony Vaio VPCCW21FX

Greetings and thanks in advance for reading. Here is the situation. I recently repaired a laptop (Sony Vaio VPCCW21FX) for a friend of mine. He dropped it. The structural damage was easy compared to the main issue I am having. The old screen was broken, so I ordered a new one. Same part number, slightly different EDIC number. The EDIC number was not shown when I ordered the new screen, and I am unsure as to whether or not it is important in this applacation.

Old screen: LG LP140WH2
(TL) (N1)

New Screen: LG LP140WH2
(TL) (L2)

I replaced the screen. Disconnected power supply, battery removed. This screen is an LED back-light screen so there is only one connector to the screen and it does not require an inverter. Now for the problem. The LCD functions, but there is no back-light. I hooked up the old screen to check (it's back-light had been working before I replaced it) and now that one is not working either. I rechecked all connections and can't find any hardware issues. I E-mailed Sony for some advice. They suggested upgrading the drivers and some utilities for this laptop. I did that. Still no back-light. I then E-mailed LG. They were very polite about it, but they can't help me and simply told me I need to talk to Sony. Two other people I know who also do computer repair have looked at this and haven't be able to help. I have spent a few hours searching Google, and while I have found a great many others who are having the same problem I am, nobody has any solutions to the problem. That brings me here. Any ideas? Maybe it's a DIP setting? This laptop has six DIP switches under it's Keyboard. Any ideas at all would be appreciated right now. I would like to give my friend back a fully working laptop.

Dip Switches

I'm not sure this is going to help, but I bought a Sony Vaio VPC-EA3S1E/B. It also has 6 dip switch settings under the keyboard. My screen also has a backlight fault now and I've ordered another one from Ebay in the hope it will make a difference. I've played wih all the dip switch settings o the old screen and been through a few basic and random iterations. As yet nothing has made a difference. I'll let you know how I get on but I wish someone had the settings for the dip switches as their are obviously settings for each one.

Good luck

Jason
