Back to the Future- Norton Style.....

This is how lame Norton is....

I recently got a 30 day subscribtion to Norton Internet Security 2006 with my new mobo. No problems with installation, what-so-ever..... Recently, though, I noticed my time and date was a bit off..... by a whole year. For some reason the auto-set was down, so, I went and manually set it. I then, instantly, got a message that my subscribtion was expired and was prompted to renew it.....

I don't know about you but I'm ditching Norton.....

I can't believe it even took you that much prompting to get rid of it. I have a free one year subscription to that piece of shit sitting in a kit here from my ISP. It will be a cold day in hell before it ever sees a computer in this house.

I'm glad you woke up before it was too late and the Norton demons infested your computer... mwahaha. lol :D

......?'

Ya, I've actually read McAfre is a whole lot better and I'm trying to find a deal on it, so.....

The only norton thats good is Norton corporate, which gets you the virus updates automaticly, free for life, no yearly junk. But of course you can only get this through a buisness or something.

Umm, am I the only one who likes Norton? I happen to think its quite a nice virus scanner, better than some scanners like AVG.

I have teh antivirus and its the best ive run, as im on a network with my school, i get a ton of crap and norton seems to be the only program that keeps my compy clean. I had 12 viruses that mcafees lame retarted ass couldnt getr rid of, i installed norton and wiped those bad boys off.

Consumer Reports did a article on anti-virus programs and Norton performed pretty well.... but it tanked in speed (how fast it scanned a hard drive)..... Ultimately, out of all the programs they CR tested, Norton ranked third while Mcafre got the highest ranking..... CR actually recomends that you should supplement your existing anti-virus program with a free one that you can find over the net..... (CR tested a free anti-virus program and it actually score fairly wel....)

I'll try and scan the article..... (Hopefully it's not illegal.....)

Norton was ok, now it's somewhat of a drag just to use it. There are so many better free ones that doesn't make you resort to everything Norton. The year subscription, resource it takes up, and many other things that you can avoid with a better more suitable utility. Norton is actually not that bad, but there are just better ones out there, free or cheap.

Who cares HOW fast it goes if it misses half the virii? Both Mcaffee and Norton are complete crap. Avast! is free and it kills both of them. Panda is deadly as well, but unfortunately the reviewers tend not to like it. They obviously wouldn't know a good virus scanner if it kicked them in the butt.

Hi,

I have a question,
It seems that the majority of the ones posting their stuff here generally dislikes norton so I'd like to know if there's ANY way to uninstall norton internet security 2006? I think it came with some crappy norton virus scanner as well (one original cd)

specs:

- Fujitsu Siemens Amilo Pa 1510 (Notebook)
- Windows XP Home edition SP-2
- 512 Ram
- AMD Sempron +3200 processor

Stuff I tried:

- Search for Uninstaller like UNWISE.EXE (no file)
- My computer, control panel, add/remove software (lockup)
- Symantec.com files like "norton_removal_tool" (didn't work on my pc)
- manually deleting files and registry values (access denied)

Please help me, I can't even start word.
