Backing up hard drive

I'm looking for suggestions on software (if available) that performs back ups to the data on my hd. Years ago there was a something that would only back up new and/or changed files. That made it easier to perform the back up. Now I just copy, paste to an external back up drive, but it's very cumbersome. Any suggestions? Thanks
 
Second Norton Ghost. I've started using that more recently and it's very convenient. I have two drives in my main computer and can easily restore an OS on either of them if one get's corrupt. (one's more of a gaming/test drive, the other's a productivity drive)
 
Thank you. Just shows my ignorance. I've been running Norton Sytemworks for several years and didn't realize that the Ghost function can do parts of the hd. Thanks again
