M mijogr New Member Nov 6, 2008 #1 i want to back up approx 65 gigs of data to a 320 gig external hard drive. I get a message saying it can only transfer 4 gigs data because the ext hddd has a FAT 32 file system. What is this and how do i get around it?

Cromewell Administrator Staff member Nov 6, 2008 #2 You can convert FAT32 to NTFS fairly easily. It may fail so don't do it if you have any data on the external drive that you can't lose. Windows has a utility to do it. I think there is a GUI version but the command line version is called convert.exe
