how can i back up oblivion saved games to a cd or something? i know, it sounds weird... but i desperately need a reformat... and i don't want to lose my saved game... lol if i have to start from the beginning i guess i will, i mean i already beat the main quest n e ways.. but still...

Yes you can. My Documents>>Games>> Oblivion, or something like that. Then just reinstall the game and stick your game saves in the same folder. I do it all the time.

There should be a saves folder in your Oblivion folder, or some games have been putting the saves in the Application Data folder of your personal profile under Documents and Settings and so forth. The Data folder is hidden, so make sure you have those checked as visible.

wow thanks.. i didn't know bethesda had the saved games in my documents, i thought that was mostly for microsoft games! :D much thanks again!
haha i was looking under program files and bethesda software and such lol, guess i was wrong! :D this makes me so happy... haha

I had to save a few games and Folding@Home when I reformatted. I just saved the entire folder from each one to CD-RW, reformatted, reinstalled the apps, and then copied the entire folder where necessary, overwriting what the fresh installs put in. Worked like a charm.

Yeah, a few of the newer games, BFME2 come to mind, are using that Application Data folder. Why, I don't know, but they are :)
