Did a little searching and didn't find an answer.
I currently run a seven year old Dell Dimension 2400 desktop computer with WinXP SP3 Home Edition. Specs for my system. I'm planning on upgrading the current 40GB HDD to a larger HDD. I'm considering a 320GB. Current HDD in the Dell is a Western Digital. I will be upgrading to another Western Digital HDD. To copy/transfer my entire OS and files, WD offers a free download on their site called Acronis True Image. I currently have a Western Digital 1TB external HDD that I've been using to back up my photos, music, etc.
What I'd like to know:
1. Can I use the WD software to back up my entire OS on the 1TB WD HDD in case my internal HDD would ever develop problems?
2. Has anyone ever used Western Digital's software to transfer their OS?
3. Is transferring the OS to another HDD really that simple, or are there things I need to watch out for?
I'll probably have more questions as I get more into this. All info is appreciated.
