Backing up photos (and system)

Hi, I'm Schona and I'm new here. I'm halfway familiar with computer lingo and technology so bare with me. :o

What is the best way to save my photos? On a flash drive (which I know little about other than using it once or twice) or on CD? And if you suggest CD, what is the best CD for this?

I have SOOOOOO many photos on my system that I need to do something with before I end up losing them all. I don't have a paper copy since they were loaded off my digital camera. I do plan to make a paper copy for many of them but want to save these precious memories in the best way possible. I am open to any suggestions you could give and recommendations.

What is the best way to back up my system? I have never done that before (never took the time to learn how or just do it) and not sure of the procedures and CD's used.

I have: Windows XP Home Edition Version 2002 Service Pack 2, Compaq Presario Intel, Pentium 4 CPU 2.00GHz, 1.99 GHz, 1.50 GB of RAM, CD burner, DVD player

I thank you so much for any help you may offer. :)

What I do, is back up my photos on TY DVDR's. I make two copies. One for home and a second off site. I'd hate to have a break-in or fire and lose the computer and backup, so that's why I make a send copy.

What i've done right now was buy a hard drive enclosure and put my old hard drive in, to make myself an external harddrive. So i use that to back up all my photos and other important documents. I was also planning to make a second copy of the stuff putting them in cd's/dvd's just in case the hard drive screws up all of a sudden. I didnt' want to fully depend on cd's and dvd's just in case i accidently scratch them somehow or suddenly not work. BUT..... i havne't made the second copy yet, just cuz i'm lazy :P

Holy smokes, I've put in my own ram but another hard drive is not my expertise. lol How did you learn to do that or do you know where I could learn to put it in, where to get it and how to use it?
