Backup windows in linux

So...I turned off my computer cause I didn't need it, but then I decided I wanted to use it so I turned it back on...to find a blue screen. Every time I try to load windows 7 i get a blue screen that stays long enough to say something about memory then the pc restarts. This has happened before. either way, I tried everything I could to get into windows but i can't, so here i am on ubuntu. MY question is, is there software for linux that i can use to back up my windows 7 partition so i can just wipe the drive or reinstall windows, then load the back up?
 
To retrieve User created Data on a Computer that won't boot, I use a Live Linux CD called Puppy Linux, then you can Mount the Drive and copy data to something like a usb Drive, or burn some CD's

It also is a good way to maybe rule out a Hardware failure.

If Puppy won't boot or recognize a Hard Drive or other Hardware then it gives you a clue as to what the problem might be.
 
Well you already have ubuntu so why not just mount your Windows Drive and copy all the data you need to your ubuntu install?

Did you install a new software ? Because that might cause a blue screen.
 
Have you tried running Memtest +86? It should be in your grub loader. I have seen it before that there is a hardware issue that causes instability in Windows but won't in Ubuntu.

This might work. But I have the hunch that it is just for imaging Ubuntu. Might be worth a shot. Your best option might be just to go into your windows files from Ubuntu and grab everything that you need. Reinstall or try to fix with the install cd then move the files back over to windows.
