hey
i was interested in getting a Asus P4S800D-E Deluxe mobo.
it's got a fsb of 800mhz, but the processor I want to get (celeron 2.4 ghz) has fsb 400mhz. is the mobo backwards compatible to recieve the 400mhz fsb chip?

also, the motherboard is sata, whereas I have hdd's that are ata133, I shouldn't have any problems with those harddrives, and this new motherboard. is that correct?

thanks!

Yes, at least as far as the specs for the mobo say. How much are you going to pay for that CPU? I would recommend the Celeron D (533 FSB) if not a P4.

Yes, the mobo has PATA (IDE) connections which will work fine with your HDDs.

awesome.
I'm limited to the amount of product and a budget, so unfortuantely these will be the best within those limitations.
(the computer isn't for me, it's acctually going to be for a computer lab, and there'll be 3 of them!)
Thanks for the help...

the cpu is ~109(cdn), I think there's a discount through the people I'm ordering from.

Okay, I was just wondering because I have a Celeron D 2.4 GHz that I got for $74 USD, I'm not sure how much that is cdn. But then I guess its not too big a deal. A plain Celeron will work fine for a computer lab.

If at all possible try to stay away from SiS but if thats the only chipset that supports your chip then that ASUS board is as good as it gets :)
