when i try and upload my avatar it says invalid file type, how do i get it working????????

it's probably in the FAQ's about what file types and sizes are acceptable, check that your avatar meets all those
EDIT: Note: The maximum size of your custom image is 80 by 80 pixels or 19.5 KB (whichever is smaller).

Oh I see.
I think you are trying to upload a format which this site doesnt support.
make sure its *.jpg (probably the best). Or look up all the supported formats on the FAQs.

i've put in bigger... it just shrinks them... my avatar is really about 3 times as big... it shrinked it...

Yeah, but the size was smaller than 19.5 kb.

My avatar is like 5x bigger and is well over 19,5Kb.
