Bad Battery???

I have an old Inspiron 8200 that within the last year I bought a Panisonic replacement battery. Then I decided to remove the modular floppy drive and replace it with a Sanyo battery. Everything has been fine with the Panisonic.

However, now no matter which bay that I have the Sanyo in, it will not charge. It is less than a year old. Is it possible to tell if it is defective?
 
as far as I know a battery can only fit in the part of the laptop the other battery fits in is there another laptop you can test it on?
 
Unfortunatly not with this old laptop. The Panisonic charges great in both bays, so I'm guessing that means that I probably have a bad battery.:(
