Bad motherboard after changing from AM2+ to AM3?

OK, so some of you may know I switched from my AMD Phenom ii X4 940 to my Phenom ii X4 965 processor. In doing this I had to change everything around. My motherboard was switched to the asus board in my signature along with some GSkill DDR3 memory. Well, after booting for the first time, I had some issues with the RAID driver, but I finally got that fixed and got booted into Windows. Loaded all the correct drivers for the motherboard. Then the unexpected started happening. I started getting random freezes, no blue screen, just freezing at the desktop. I would reboot, and it would freeze at desktop shortly after booting up. I would have enough time to open the task manager and notice that it would freeze as wmiprvse would boost my processor usage to about 97%. Then I started getting graphical glitches during post. I don't think it could be because I needed to do a fresh install due to the graphical junk I was getting during post. It's not the video card as i put my old motherboard back in with the same video card and everything is working as it should.

The question is, with all that said, would you believe it's a motherboard issue?

Reinstall windows on the new motherboard. Unfortunately with different hardware on the motherboard the only way to really fix the issues is to reinstall windows.

Even though I was also having issues before Windows would even start to load up? I mean, I don't even think the computer has had time to look for any drivers when the post messages are just appearing on the screen.

After post screen and before windows even loads the system is trying to load drivers and system services. If the hardware is different then its gonna have problems.

Yes, I did. And after I installed the 2 hard drives and set them in RAID format in the BIOS, I also checked them out in the Raid settings to make sure they were still OK. Now on first boot, I got a bluescreen. I had to use an image of my windows install on a thumbdrive to go into installation and try a repair. During this time I had to load the RAID drivers for the M4 motherboard. After the repair process didn't work, I then used dism in DOS to install the RAID drivers into an "offline" Windows 7. After getting the RAID drivers for this motherboard loaded into the operating system, Windows 7 loaded fine. The system actually ran fine for a day then all this stuff started happening. That is why I don't believe it has anything to do with drivers on the disk. In my opinion it has to do with the motherboard.

Please update the BIOS and have you tried to reset the cmos and set it to default yet? The latest bios "fixes a hang when certain graphics cards are used" the ones previous to that fix RAID issues and CPU compatibility issues. Always update BIOS when upgrading CPU.
