Bad power cord

My compaq laptop will not power up. I believe my power cord is bad. What is the best way to test it?

why do you thin you power cords bad? theres a bunch of reasons.

where would you start looking? I was always tought to start simple. Since you just can't go replacing parts in a laptop haphazardly I want to be sure. Its common to have the point where the cord connects to the board to snap.

You can try using another power cord. And yes it could be a lot of other reasons, but trying another power cord will eliminate one of them.
