Barcodes?

Hey,

I wsa wondering... If anyone is familiar with video game consoles such as the big ones located in arcades or whatever, then they can possibly help me. I have one of these and it requires a game card that would normally be purchased at the store wherever you would play the game. Instead of just turning the barcode reader off, I was wondering if there is any program or way on my computer to print barcodes so that I can let specific people use the machine. I basically want to make the machine think that I am using a correct barcode and so I would be able to only let certain people play my machine. Thanks.

Sincerely,

Alexander Halpern

I know they have programs out there made specifically for that, but they cost quite a bit of money. But i did stumble upon a program that let me make one, i think it was Ahead Label Maker or something.

Well.

Well,

I actually can find programs that allow me to make barcodes, that is not the problem. What I am trying to accomplish is to make it trick the machine into thinking that I have one of the cards purchased at the store where you would play the game. Making a barcode is the easy part, programing it or entering the right information, is the hard part.

Sincerely,

Alexander

Oh i see what your saying. If i understand you correctly, your talking about games that read a barcode off a game card of some sort, that gives you a certain amount of playing time correct?

Also if i remember correctly, the card has to be activated before the machines can recognize it, and you would also have to find out the type of barcode the games use.

Yes!

Yes,

That is exactly what I am talking about. I am trying to pretty much make a barcode that would tell the machine that I had a certain amount on the card or that I had unlimited credits. Thanks in advance.

Sincerely,

Alexander

Seems like you would need to how the arcade barcode readers work, i dont think it's going to be easy to figure it out.

Isnt that illegal anyways to try and "hack" other peoples things?

Well.

Well,

I don't think it is illegal to do it if it is personal. Also, I am not sure how the reader works, and if anyone could help me out, that would be great.

Sincerely,

Alexander

Does it also have a coin slot? If so set it to use that, then when you or someone you know whats to use it, use the key to open it up, and pull the trigger down for the coin slot.

Other then thatm, the machines are ussaly hooked up to some sort of network so it knows to subract the money from the gaming "card" that you put in.

In any arcade machine I have seen, if you open it up though the front there is always a On/Off switch, tiss ussaly rather large, you can always keep it on freeplay, then jsut keep it locked and only turn it on or off using that instead :)
