"Basic" backup - what's best?

I want to know of a free program that can make "basic" backups of my computer.

I quite literally want a program that simply copies the files I want to back-up onto my external HD, almost as if I was dragging and dropping it all. Preferably with a scheduling option like with Windows Backup. Does such a program exist?

Yeah, it's called Windows Backup.

Windows Backup nests everything into a shitload of folders though, I want a program that simply just copies everything over.

Create a robocopy batch file and then create a scheduled task.

or use a program like macrium reflect to make an exact copy of your main drive.
