Basic sound software

Hi guys, I'm looking for a program basic program that I can use to mix different audio files with, like place one track over another so they play as one track. Nothing fancy like cakewalk etc...
I'd appreciate any help at all.

winamp can do it on the fly, while you listen to music, and nero can do it on the fly, as you burn it
