Battery Backup

I just bought a battery backup for my computer system. Before I had my computer, monitor, printer, and speaker system attached to a surge protector. Being that the power went out today (monsoon season in Arizona) I bought a battery backup rated at 350VA/200Watts. I realize it is small and won't provide more than 5 minutes but I just want it to save my stuff and shut down before it dies. But is there such thing as a computer overpowering the battery backup? I assume my computer pulls at least 300W from the wall. Also is it an okay setup to have my surge protector plugged into this battery backup? My computer is basically on 2 surge protectors. The original one and now the backup battery.

well you can over power a batery backup, but it should warn you. also you dont really need a surge pertector, a batery backup is the best type of serge protector because if there is too much or too little votage it uses the battery

I would also just plug in your system and monitor to the battery - and everything else into the surge slots.

Personally, I have a 550w battery surge protector.
but even with a 500w power supply in the computer and the monitor running, it says I should have a run time of 80 minutes (although I dont know how accurate that is)

Well the battery wont fit on my desk. I'm in a dorm lol. And I had my surge protector power all my stuff but with the battery, I just plugged the surge into the battery so I wouldn't have to mess with wiring. I don't really care about how much time I have. 5 mins is good for me. I'm just wondering if I can run my computer, monitor, printer, and lamp on this thing.

No it's just I have all my computer stuff on my desk. The battery won't fit on my desk, the surge protector is on my desk. So I still have all the cables tied up. I didn't want to have to mess with the wiring so I just plugged the surge protector into the battery which is on the floor. But this is besides the point. Haha what is 350VA/200W?

Haha that too but I don't see any downside to it. Well I just checked the battery backup on NewEgg.

Apparently not very good reviews. Maybe I should invest in getting a bigger backup? I got this one at Sam's Club for like $30. I was thinking since this is rated at 200W and my computer probably uses around 400W, that I wouldn't get 27 minutes, maybe around 10 or something. But since all the reviews say that the battery fried their PSU, maybe it's safer not to use it? Maybe just use it for my lights or something?

A lamp will use quite a bit of electricity, especially if it uses the halogen bulbs. Do you really need a lamp and printer on a batter backup anyways?

Not really but I want my computer on a battery backup. And according to that NewEgg review, this battery backup will fry my PSU. Haha I just want to know what 350VA/200W means. I have a 500W PSU, I'm assuming I use around 300W, which is more than 200W. Sooo should I get a bigger one?

If the UPS is rated at 200W and you are using 300W when the power cuts out, I believe it will just shut down immediately.

Shoot, well the reviews said it fried their PSU when the power went out. Aaand I don't want that to happen. Next time I see it raining I'm shutting this thing down and using it for like a lamp or something lol. I'll get one of those $100 systems. It's just they sell 200W ones that backup 27 minutes for $30 or you can get a 500W one that backs up to 80 minutes for $120. Only thing is I only need like 10 mins lol.
