Battery Issue

Hello,

i bought a new laptop and would like to preserve the 6 cell lion battery as much as possible.

I work in an office where i use the laptop for 6-7 hours daily and then take it with me at home and use it for some school work for 1-2 hours.

Should i remove the battery at office hours every day and keep it plugged with electricity and plug it in as i go to home. I mean am i doing right or causing harm to the battery by unplugging it and plugging it every day.

Thanks in advance

I have a laptop and Toshiba 6 cell. From an electrical standpoint i would avoid plugging and unplugging or taking out. waste of time. Read the instructions for proper battery charging. It will likely say never run down completely and never over charge. it will boil the battery and destroy it. I would just plug it in and use it. thats what i did. The toshiba ive had for maybe 7 yrs. There are other opinions on this. i think it would be a pain to unplug constant. I will run off the power supply if plugged in. If its a smart charger it should just stop if installed. the option might even be there in the windows or a hot key associated with the manufacture you have.

I would be surprised if the newer laptops did not have smart chargers built in for lithium ion's by now. they work well. gets low it charges, charged to proper lever stops. then just runs off the power supply. my Asus Eee will not. and its only 3v. but it was a gift. for credit cards and bills and unline. like it to take on the road or and traveling because of weight.
oh well.
