Battery Revival, Use, and Maintaince Question

Read thatyou can discharge, freeze, recharge batteries and it helps them gain some run time. I did this with my dead Li-Ion batteries (5) and one 15 second battery... will this work?

What is an good maintaince for an battery?

I heard that Li-Ions are better when cold. Will it help if I have an AC next to the computer?
 
why not 1% or so?

PS - One of the batteries I recieved on an 7 year old laptop held an charge and ran for 2 hours at the BOOK DISK ERROR (no HDD) so is it an good battery?
