Battlefield 2 is getting slow..

just got a new comp, customed as you see in my signature is more than enuf to play bf2 but the fps is very inconsistent it goes to 100 and to 50. And i do leave my computer on all day long can this be the problem?
 
Yes through my experience it may be the problem unless you got a good cooling system that is for overclocking.
 
It is highly unlikely that leaving your computer on is making BF2 run slower. It is more likely due to server lag etc. Dont worry, even people with 7900GTXs sometimes get poor framefrates at times.
 
it all depends whats happening on screen, if ur just walking down a street with no other people in sight or nothing moving and such, ur fps will skyrocket but if ur in a firefight with 3 helis shotting down each other and jeeps flyin everywhere, expect to have low fps:(
 
BF2 runs fine on mine, but you have to know your computer's limits. Just because your computer is new doesn't mean you should max out ur settings in BF2 as well as in your overclocking. I currently have a 2.4ghz, which is working fine because I didn't overclock it to where your graphicc card is doing all the work.

i didn't overclock anything...im guessing its my old hard drive
cause ever since i inserted that baby in its been laggin when i took it out it was perfectly fine..

it may be your old harddrive especially since its old plus and has a slow RPM and cache system, but I really can't say what can be the solution if you installed Bf2 on your new harddrive.
